Feeding the Ducks

Zoe and I went for a very long walk today and found some ducks. I didn't think to bring bread with me on our walk, but we had plenty of Cheerios, which as it turns out the ducks really liked! Zoe is just starting to make animal sounds and say names of animals. Today she kept saying "Wuh Wuh" for the quack sound every time she saw the ducks. So cute!

A Day At The Park

Today I took Zoe to a playground near the house. She's getting to where she loves to run from swing to slide to see saw, and even in circles around me! Although she is too small to go on most of the equipment by herself, I found that if I take her on it she still has fun (and so do I!). Today we went down the "big kid" slide a few times. I think I know now what it feels like to be shot from a cannon, because that is how fast we went down the slide the first time! I'm glad Zoe was sitting in front of me so she could not see the fear in my eyes - she was squealing with delight the whole way down as I held on to her for dear life. After a few more times, we slowed down a bit when the sand was brushed off the slide. Eventually, we both enjoyed it and ended up staying there for almost 2 hours before heading to the Klein Zoo.

Zoe the Helper

I recently bought a cabinet for the kitchen - more of a fancy trash bin really. For the past few weeks, Zoe has started to open the trash can and put toys inside - or even worse, pull trash out...yuck! I went online and searched for a trash bin that would be difficult for her to open. After a long time searching, I finally found the perfect one. It arrived today and of course, it was in 4 boxes and about 50 pieces! I decided to try to put it together while Zoe was awake. It didn't take long for her to figure out this looked like much more fun than her toys. She grabbed the screwdriver from me and started to "fix" everything. She was having a blast!

Saturday in the Park

We've had a few wonderful warm and sunny days here in Germany. Zoe and I have been enjoying every spare moment outside. We walk to the neighborhood parks and zoo and spend lots of time on the swings, which is Zoe's favorite. She now uses her sign language to tell me she wants "more swinging"!

The other night I went to check on Zoe before I went to bed, and I found her legs hanging out of her crib. She was perfectly comfortable, snoring away! What a silly kid she is.

She is babbling all the time now, and is really starting to understand everything I say to her. I can ask her to get me a book, and she'll bring a book to me to read to her. It's so cute. She is just beginning to make animal sounds - her favorite is monkey! She also likes to carry around the remote controls and hold them up to her ear like a telephone saying, "Hi!" Hmm...wonder where she got this idea from? :-)
